Netherexe Parish Church
|
Welcome to Netherexe Church dedicated to St John the Baptist No fantastic stained glass windows. No magnificent screens. No electricity, gas or water. Just a simple stone church set in the midst of fields close to the banks of the River Exe. Lit by candles, heated by the warmth of its congregation. The footpaths and bridleways which converge on it are a testimony to its importance to the generations who have worshipped here. It is believed that there has been a church on this site since the C13th although the present building is late C15th. It was renovated around 1890. More recent renovation work on the church was completed in 2008 at a cost of £5,111.64. Our 2012 services start on Easter Sunday with the Sunrise Communion. Details of services are set out below. 5th August sees the annual horse show in the fields around the church and we throw open the church doors to offer quiet sanctuary from the activities and competitions. Cream teas are on offer in aid of church funds. As usual we will take part in the annual Ride and Stride event in September.
